ABOUT

The Sigma Youth Symposium was designed in 1998 to highlight some of the prevalent concerns that impact our youth. Held on the second Saturday of March by each Alumnae Chapter, simultaneous Sigma Youth Symposiums address issues that affect teens today. This free, all day event hosts workshops and interactive discussions for students that in the past have included the importance of making healthy living choices, how to make wise financial decisions, community relations and STEM. In addition, the event includes food, raffles, prizes and swag bags for each of the students in attendance!

This 19th annual Youth Symposium, the following alumnae chapters are forming a partnership in conjunction with the Beacon of Light Foundation to put on a larger Youth Symposium in Greater Los Angeles area that promises to be bigger and better than ever:

Sigma Sigma - Los Angeles

Theta Epsilon Sigma - Culver City

BEACON OF LIGHT
SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION

The Beacon of Light Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization. It was created in 2007 by Theta Epsilon Sigma to provide substantial scholarship awards to exceptional female high school seniors for study at a four year accredited college or university of their choice.

The Beacon of Light Foundation host its annual scholarship and awards luncheon in conjunction with Theta Epsilon Sigma to showcase the achievements of young women and local community leaders committed to education. Since its inception the Beacon of Light Foundation has awarded more than twenty thousand ($20,000.00) dollars in scholarships to local female high school graduates for college expenses.

Each year, local high schools are encouraged to promote the scholarship opportunity to their senior class. Eligible students must complete an application, and a writing sample, provide official transcripts,  letters of recommendation and a college acceptance letter. The applications are reviewed by the scholarship committee. Scholarships are awarded at our annual scholarship luncheon.
